Note; This soldier is included in this study as the records were found in the Maquon Library. At this time it is unknown how they came to be there or what his connection is with the town of Maquon. As he is listed with the 53d Ill. Cav. a search of military records is no help as there was no 53d Ill. Cav. during the Civil War. I have therefore searched the most likely regiments. I have included these even though I have no proof that they are in fact those listed in the charges.
